The recipe Test Nest cooking experiment began in 2010 as an opportunity to test and rate hundreds of recipes to find the ultimate 5 star crowd-pleasing dishes. Now hundreds of recipes later, Test Nest has become a favorite occasion to bring food and friends together.
The ultimate goal is to compile and organize the 5 star recipes into a cookbook. Along the way I’m learning how to create compelling and enticing menus, improve cooking techniques, try unique ingredients, and challenge myself by preparing difficult dishes for the first time.
As part of the experiment I also chronicle every new recipe that I make throughout the year, from where I found the recipe, and an approximate cost for each recipe in an excel sheet so that I can provide fun stats and measure effectiveness.
