Annual TONY’s Party

Sunday, June 10th, 2012
I've been hosting a TONY's party for the past 8 years. Started with Sally Atkinson and Hilary Johnson Ayer, its been a special party for the three of us who started our NYC adventures together in 2003 and had a common love for Broadway. The past couple years we've chosen to celebrate and watch in Times Square...but with the arrival of Sally's new little one we decided it would be best to be inside with a little smaller of a group. We had a great group of Broadway lovers and samplings of lots of Read More....

TEST NEST August 13

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
I was very excited to do a BBQ night for the August 13 TEST NEST. Five wonderful testers joined me: Jason Robertson, Morgan Basset, Jeff Johnson, Anna Haymore, and Todd Stevens. Outnumbered, Anna and I had a fun night of being teased…I felt right at home. I was really excited about this menu and enjoyed making a couple BBQ sauces, I still have so many recipes to try. TEST NEST for 22

Friday, August 6th, 2010
During our yearly family reunions we take turns cooking. I decided it would be fun to do a special TEST NEST for my family since they live so far away and can't participate in my experiment here in NYC. Dinner for 22 people is a whole new ballgame. There wasn’t a sit down course dinner structure since we had the little kids. I also explained the ratings before everyone starting eating and the chaos began. What happened next was priceless - just imagine a lot of adorable and vocal kids taking aRead More....

Holland Party

Friday, June 4th, 2010
Barely cleaned up from my TEST NEST I started preparing for a Holland “show and tell” party with a small group of close friends. I was excited to share with them the green cheese that I found abroad as well as other yummy “authentic” Holland treats. Holland is famous for four types of cheeses, which I brought home: Gouda, Edam, Beemster and Lindburger (strong stuff). I also brought home stropwaffles (thin waffles sliced in half and filled with caramel sauce -- oh soooo good), Dutch pancaRead More....

90 Recipes and Counting

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010
Over the past four months I've made 90 recipes; 13 of those were not keepers and 12 have been 5 Star. I thought I'd share a few other easy recipes that I've made which have been quite yummy. I forget to take pictures when it is not an actual TEST NEST dinner, but these were worthy recipes. Read More....

Avocado Shakes

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010
It might sound gross, and that is okay because the first time my friend recommended an Avocado Shake to me while I was in the Middle East I thought it was gross too...until I tried it. Now I love them and I think they are 5 star! So give it a try, it might surprise you. Read More....

Middle Eastern Finale

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Lamb is difficult to prepare, I’ve really enjoyed trying out recipes these past three TEST NEST menus. I still haven’t perfected cooking lamb, but definitely learned a lot. On April 26, my wonderful guests (Tara Bench, Richard Atkinson, Morgan Basset, Daniel Evans, Jian Huang, David Caine) and me had a blast. I was a little nervous for this dinner as Tara is the food editor at Ladies Home Journal Read More....

Rose Water

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
Have you ever thought about the process for making Rose Water? My favorite relationship with Rose Water use to be a warm fragrant towel at fancy restaurants. I knew it was used in beauty products, some cuisine and considered a luxury item, but I didn't know why. Read More....

Happy Mardi Gras

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
I've wanted to try this Chicken & Kielbasa Gumbo recipe from Woman's Day Magazine for a while now. Last night we semi-celebrated Mardi Gras (while watching the Olympics and the snow falling outside our windows) and I threw this together. We gave it a 3 Star - I'm sure there are better gumbo recipes out there, but the flavor is better than normal and it is simple and quick to make - a great option for a night when you aRead More....
